It is with profound sadness that family and friends mourn the passing of Kaitlyn Michelle Delong, who passed away on June 18, 2026, at the age of 20.
Born on July 27, 2005, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Kaitlyn was the beloved daughter of Donald Delong Jr. and Michelle Newsome. She was a cherished member of her family whose kindness, love, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Kaitlyn was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Sherry Delong, and her nephew, Holtyn Delong. Though her life was far too short, she leaves behind a legacy of love and treasured memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those she held dear.
She is survived by her father, Donald Delong Jr.; her mother, Michelle Newsome; stepfather Jason Wiley; stepmother Latasha Delong; and grandparents Donald Delong, Michael Newsome, and Rebecca Sweeney. She also leaves behind her brothers, William Smith and Jordan Delong, and her sisters, Jasmine Delong, Tosha Horn, and Hannah Smith.
Kaitlyn was deeply loved by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She shared a special bond with her beloved boyfriend, John Haney, and cherished friendships with Brandon Newsome and Kylin Luster, whom she loved as her own little boy.
Those who knew Kaitlyn will remember her warm heart, caring nature, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and joy to countless lives, and her memory will continue to inspire those who loved her.
Funeral services honoring Kaitlyn’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home in Inez, Kentucky, with Randy Cassady officiating. Burial will follow at the Goble-Delong Family Cemetery in Debord, Kentucky.
Kaitlyn’s memory will forever remain a treasured blessing to all who knew and loved her.
