A 25-year-old woman, Molly Jenner, has tragically passed away just ten days after receiving a diagnosis of a rare form of blood cancer.
Molly was described by those close to her as vibrant, healthy, and full of life prior to suddenly falling ill in April. What initially appeared to be a minor illness—a lingering cough—quickly escalated when she collapsed at home, prompting an emergency admission to York Hospital.
Further medical investigations revealed a 10cm mass in her chest, which was severely affecting her breathing and making it difficult for her to lie down. After several weeks of inconclusive biopsies and testing, doctors confirmed on 21 May that Molly was suffering from lymphoma, a type of blood cancer.
Despite the devastating diagnosis, Molly and her fiancée, Lily Monarch, faced the news with courage and determination, immediately preparing for treatment and holding onto hope for recovery. Chemotherapy was scheduled to begin on 1 June.
Tragically, Molly passed away on 31 May, just one day before treatment was due to start and ten days after finally receiving her diagnosis.
Her sudden passing has left her fiancée, family, friends, and wider community heartbroken. The couple had been together since 2022 and shared plans for their future, including travel and life goals together. Molly was also the primary provider for their household, leaving Lily facing both emotional grief and financial hardship.
A fundraising campaign has since been launched to support Lily during this difficult time as she tries to rebuild her life following the sudden loss.
